The death of Julius Caesar was a bitter and gruesome one. He died by the hand of his friend Brutus and his own group of senators who badly mutilated his body. His last words were , “Et Tu Brutus” ? meaning you too Brutus. This was a grave mistake on the part of the assassins because the people of Rome loved Caesar. According to the 1st Century’s article on Julius Caesar, Caesar always took care of his soldiers even the ones that weren’t serving and he gave them all land. Julius Caesar was also loved by Romans because he took care of his people allocating land to every citizen of Rome. Caesar was a hero to the many people of Rome. He was a successful general, a people person, and an intelligent dictator.
Julius Caesar was one of the great emperors of Rome because he knew how to win people over. According to Julius Caesar in the 1st Century, when the people of Rome were upset with Caesar distributing their land to veterans Caesar knew people were furious so he gave the people their land back. This is showing that Julius Caesar knew the importance of keeping his people contented. Furthermore, the article titled Julius Caesar Hero or Villain states that Julius Caesar was a man known for his hospitality, he often worked on the projects which brought benefit to the common people. The people of Rome loved him for it because it opened up jobs for them and improved the economy.
Julius Caesar was also a hero because he used his intelligence. In the article called Gaius Julius Caesar, it states that he used the senate’s own inadequacies and problems to urbanize Rome and help the working class: as well as gain power both politically and military. This shows that he knows how to use brain instead of force and violence to get whatever he wants. For example, when Caesar was away conquering other countries his power weakened and influence toward people decreased but in order to regain this power he built houses for the people with the riches from his conquests in Gaul. Showing that he is intelligent enough to know that influence of people is far more important than conquering other countries to gain more riches.
Lastly, Gaius Julius Caesar was a hero because he was a successful general and soldier. According to one article on Julius Caesar Triumph in Gaul, Julius Caesar conquered a region called Gaul in less than a decade. This is very impressive because the region Gaul is one that consists of what is now modern day France, Belgium, Germany and northern Italy. Also, he conquered Pompey and his farmies in the Civil War.
Some might think that Caesar is an antagonist and a controlling emperor but this is not true. First, Julius Caesar limited slavery – he understood that slavery could hinder the economical and social development of Rome. Also, Julius Caesar is loved by the people because he granted many foreigners citizenship of Rome. This is impertinent to the growth of Rome as a country as well.
It’s time for people to realize that Julius Caesar was a hero and how he contributed blood, sweat, and the occasional tears to bring his country to the top of the food chain.
