Terrorism is one of the most hazardous issues faced by the contemporary society which poses significant threats to the development of the whole mankind. It is quite clear that despite numerous attempts of the world leaders and most powerful countries, the number of terrorism acts has only increased as well as the number of casualties. Therefore, it is a matter of utmost significance to elaborate some new ways to eradicate the very roots of terrorism.
It is rather obvious that no country in the world can feel totally safe as terrorism is intrinsically boundless and no adequate solutions as how to cope with the growing terrorism have been introduced yet. The recent tragical act of terrorism that happened in Paris last year as well as daily news from such countries as Iraq, Pakistan clearly show that there are some geo-political, social and cultural factors that trigger the development of terrorism.
The main aim of each terrorism group is to destabilize the situation in any country or in some geographical area in order to achieve their own goals which might differ depending on the group specificity. It might be the establishment of control over the political situation or the economy of the country, undermining the influence of the Western countries etc.
What is most likely is that any certain form of terrorism is the result of a combination of factors. Including political and economic modernization, deprivation, and class structure (Bjorgo, 2005). However, the usual paradigm of terrorism causes consists of 3 main categories which are based on economic, political and social factors. Therefore, it seems justifiable to analyze these factors thoroughly and elaborate the ways to reduce their impact on the development of terrorism movements.
A lot of people consider poverty to be the major fundamental basis for terrorism as lack of food, necessary resources, vital elements of life might force people to join terrorism in order to provide a better future for themselves and their children. Besides, their utmost anger at the current state of things, makes them feel desperate and joining a group of terrorist seems like the only available option. Thus, it seems rather logical to presume that eradication of poverty will definitely undermine the influence of terrorism movements.
The second reason for terrorism growth is strongly interconnected with the first one as poverty is often based on unemployment issues. Surely enough, unemployed people do not have the necessary resources to support their families. Therefore, they are urged to seek help from the terrorists who guarantee the financial support of their families in exchange of joining their forces. The solution is simple – the more people get a steady and well-paid job, the less opportunities terrorists will have in order to attract desperate and starving people.
The countries of the Third World face another problem that might trigger the development of terrorism-directed worldview such as total absence of justice. In case people see that they cannot find justice using the political and judicial systems, they might take laws in their own hands. Basically, people loose their trust being constantly faced with the wall of ultimate social injustice. Therefore, it seems logical to assume that upgrading and resetting of justice system will help to stop terrorism.
Lack of education is another factor that stimulates the dynamic growth of terrorism movements. Uneducated people are more likely to join anti-social elements than those who managed to obtain proper education. Therefore, it seems to be of vital importance for the governments to pay much more attention to educational issues, minimize the costs of studying, provide more opportunities for education at free of cost, open more schools and concentrate on the cultural development of the youth. In the long run, it will bring only positive effects on the economic, political and social situation in any country.
Terrorism is an absolute hazard for the modern world. Thus, in case the world leaders do not want to jeopardize the world safety and do not elaborate a united and detailed plan of its eradication, the mankind will always be threatened by a group of fanatical zealots. Besides, it is important for countries from the Third World to take intensive measures to decrease the level of poverty and unemployment, reset the justice system, provide better education for citizens.
